The Power of Ice Cream and Small Wins

Hi Reader,

Some days feel like they come straight out of a movie—filled with challenges, unexpected twists, and small victories. (Is Mercury in retrograde?)

Yesterday, I was in the middle of juggling everything: supporting my autistic (diagnosis finally completed) daughter with her new therapy exercises, preparing for a three-Zoom-meeting day, and dealing with my car's computer crashing (seriously?) that's draining the battery.

And still, I had a Lego parrot to build for Caidynn, a networking luncheon to attend, a podcast interview, and being the Table Topics Master at Entrepinayship Toastmasters in the evening.

If you’ve ever felt like life is pulling you in a million directions, you’re not alone.

In the middle of this chaotic day, my daughter asked for one of her safe foods: bubble gum ice cream in a waffle bowl.

Watching her settle down with her comfort snack and favorite Pokémon video, I felt relief, but not because the day got easier. I realized that even small acts of care can create moments of peace.

It was a reminder that sometimes, we need to give ourselves permission to breathe and recalibrate, even when everything feels urgent.

Here’s what I'm grateful for:

  • Small wins: Whether it’s finding a moment of calm for yourself or providing comfort to someone you love, those small steps build resilience.
  • It’s okay to pivot: Missing the luncheon because of my car issues gave me an hour of unexpected free time to reset, which helped me show up fully for the rest of my day (and night).
  • Grace is key: We don’t have to get everything perfect to make an impact. Showing up—even imperfectly—is enough.

If your life feels full and overwhelming , remember to find your own version of a “bubble gum ice cream moment.” Those small pauses can give you the clarity and strength to keep moving forward.

What gives you comfort in times of stress? For me, it's bear hugs from my dog Pongo.

If you're ready to create a business that aligns with your life (and leaves room for those much-needed moments of calm), I’d love to help.

Warmly,
Gail

Hello Reader, If you’ve been feeling off-track or unsure about what you truly want, you're not alone. During a recent strategy session with one of my marketing clients, they shared how frustrated they felt about the direction of their business. “It just feels like I’m working to pay other people. I don't want to do this anymore.”I asked them the “magic question” and we aligned their target market, messaging, and marketing plan to who they really wanted to work with. In Episode 13 of the...

Hey Reader,It’s June. That strange halfway point between everything we thought we’d do and everything still possible. The past 7 years have thrown me for a loop. Between a surprise pregnancy, a global pandemic, caretaking our beautifully neurodivergent child, and fascism in our country… There have been many days when I couldn’t see beyond the next 10 minutes, let alone visualize the next 10 years. But today, I’m giving myself permission to dream again. One of my favorite grounding practices...
